What is an ACSO?

An Aged Care Specialist Officer (ACSO) is a trained Services Australia staff member who provides free face-to-face support to help you understand and access aged care services.

How can an ACSO help me?

ACSOs provide personalised support with:

  • Understanding aged care services and Support at Home
  • Checking if you’re eligible for aged care
  • Making a referral for an aged care assessment
  • Using the My Aged Care website
  • Answering detailed questions about aged care costs and services

How do I book an appointment?

  • Call the Services Australia Aged Care line on 1800 227 475 (Monday to Friday 8am-5pm). Tell them you want to book an appointment with an ACSO.
  • You can meet in person at selected Services Australia centres or by video chat if you have a myGov account.

Is there a cost?

No. Appointments with an ACSO are completely free.
