George Karagiannakis BEc (ANU), MBA (UNE), CPA, AICD
Audit & Risk Committee Member
Appointed to the Board in June 2024. George is Executive Manager of Government and Industry Affairs at IAG. In IAG he has worked in various senior corporate positions including public policy, international strategy, risk management, and corporate strategy.
Prior to joining IAG he worked in Telstra in senior finance roles, and prior to that in the federal departments of Finance, Transport/Aviation, Communication, and Defence, in senior policy positions.
George is also on the Board of the Sydney Institute, and Secretary of the Australian Professional Government Relations Association.

Karn Nelson BA (UCL) YMP (INSEAD)
Co-Chair
Appointed in 2017, Karn is Executive GM, Strategic Policy and Research at aged care provider, the Whiddon Group. Karn has wide experience as a brand strategist working in Australia and internationally with strategic marketing and creative services agencies. She is passionate about arts and health and about enabling older people to stay connected to the things that matter to them and to continue to participate, contribute and be valued in society. She is a member of the Social Impact Committee.

Andy Hobbs LLB (University of Reading), Accounting Studies (ACCA)
Co-Chair
Appointed in 2018. Andy is Director, Commercial Policy at NSW Treasury. Andy has more than twelve years of experience in the public sector – working for the UK national government in finance until 2016 and in the NSW Treasury since his move to Australia. Andy has considerable expertise in financial policy and strategy as well as a solid commitment to volunteering for grassroots community organisations, particularly in the mental health field.

Emma Hunt BA Econ, (USyd), MIRel (USyd)
Appointed in 2019, Emma is a senior executive and entrepreneurial leader with more than twenty years of strategy expertise across the Financial services, Telecommunications and Retail sectors. Emma not only brings a wealth of knowledge and experience working in multinational and ASX listed businesses, consistently focusing on technology creating new business models, she is also a member of our Playgroup community. Emma is also a member of the Audit Risk Committee.

Susan Adamczuk RN, BHSc(nurs), MPH
Appointed to the Board in June 2024. Susan has passion and more than 30 years’ experience as a senior aged care executive with both not-for-profit and for-profit providers of residential aged care, community care and retirement living. Prior to this Susan was a nurse academic at Western Sydney University for the BHSc(nurs) and Masters of Aged Care Management. She also has experience as an external advisor for curriculum development for both the Bachelor of Nursing (WSU) and Master of Health Management UNE and is a Non-Executive Director for stand alone profit aged care provider chairing the Clinical Governance committee.

Anna Ashenden BA, Psychology, MICD, Grad Dip Social Impact
Appointed in 2022, Anna has over 15 years’ experience in the for purpose sector, with deep passion for supporting people and communities to thrive. Currently a Principal in the Consulting team at Social Ventures Australia, her background includes extensive experience with grassroots, national and international NGOs, governments, and the United Nations. She is a skilled facilitator and community engagement professional and has worked closely with communities on complex issues including mental health, housing and homelessness, employment, and social isolation.
Anna is a Member of the AICD, and former Chair of the NSW SIMNA branch. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology (First Class Honours), a Master of International and Community Development, and a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact, as well as tertiary qualifications in participatory project management.

Jennifer Herrera BSc. LLB (AU), MBA (USA)
Appointed in 2022, Jennifer has 30+ years’ experience in the corporate sector in a wide variety of roles. Jennifer worked as a corporate lawyer in both Australia and the UK before moving to the US in 1990 to complete her MBA and work for National Basketball Association in a wide range of areas – marketing, sponsorship, and consumer products before returning to Australia in 2003. Since returning, Jennifer has worked in a variety of loyalty marketing , payments and product development roles. Jennifer currently works for the Commonwealth Bank overseeing growth for their new in-app shopping experience. In 2018-19 Jennifer took a career break to care for her mother with Alzheimer’s and is grateful for the care and services provided by Holdsworth and is committed in supporting the organisation to grow in the future.

Harry Rutner LLB (UNSW), BA Social Work (Honours) (UNSW)
Harry is currently working in international human rights law, specialising in discrimination law. Harry has advocated for human rights at a national and international level, including representing organisations at the United Nations in New York and Geneva. Harry has been involved with Holdsworth for over a decade and has a deep passion for working with and supporting the community. He brings a wealth of legal knowledge from his work in both the public and private legal sectors, including extensive work with marginalised populations at NSW local community legal centres, and has a strong commitment to volunteering for disability organisations both in Australia and the UK.

Elena Wise BCom (UNSW), MBA (AGSM), CA, AICD
Elena is an Executive at Microsoft, and leads their Specialist Sales organisation in Australia and New Zealand, responsible for Microsoft’s AI, Cloud and Technical Sales specialists for its Enterprise customers.
Elena spent 7 years working in Japan for Google Japan as the Google Technical Services Director, and prior to that as the PayPal Japan Country Manager. Prior to this, Elena spent 16 years in payments with PayPal and American Express in various business and technology roles across Asia Pacific.
Before her career in payments, she was the IT Strategy Manager and Shared IT Operations Centre Manager at Boral Australia, a large Australian multi-national in the energy and construction business. She started her career at Coopers & Lybrand Australia and UK in Management Consulting Services.
In addition, Elena was elected as a Councillor on Sydney’s Woollahra Municipal Council in 2012.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting, Finance & Information Systems) from the University of New South Wales, and an Executive MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and is a Chartered Accountant. Elena is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Appointed in 2025, Craig is an agile and purpose-driven leader with a diverse career spanning commercial forestry, local government, and the health and community services sectors. His leadership has been defined by driving change and continuous improvement, with a proven track record of enhancing customer experience, employee engagement, and financial performance across public, private, and non-profit organisations.

Ethan Bidner
Head of Community Operations
Ethan joined Holdsworth in 2022, following a varied career in Residential Aged Care across NSW, QLD and the ACT. Ethan has worked in a number of frontline roles, as well as in supervisory and management capacities.
Ethan’s interest in the Aged Care Quality Standards, including successful governance and compliance, and his background as a Registered Nurse, with a focus on aged care and dementia, has led him to the business management and leadership roles he enjoys today. Further, Ethan has an interest in Diversity and Inclusion, and is currently the Chair of Holdsworth Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Ethan is passionate about helping older Australians to live their best lives, whilst maximising their choice and independence.

Angie Vriens
Head of Marketing & Community Engagement
Angie joined Holdsworth in 2023 with over 17 years of experience in the marketing and advertising industry. Angie has worked for multinational and ASX listed businesses across the telecommunications, banking and FMCG sectors. Angie found her passion working in the not-for-profit sector, where she dedicated herself to building meaningful relationships and driving positive change within communities. With a Business Marketing Degree and extensive account and team management experience, Angie approaches her work with a professional, passionate, and caring demeanour, always striving to understand and empathise with the needs of others.

Eric Hong
Financial Controller
Eric is a qualified accountant and member of CPA Australia with more than 10 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector. Eric values people engagement and contributing to meaningful outcomes, bringing strong financial expertise from his work in construction, manufacturing, and telecommunications.
Known for his practical and collaborative approach, Eric combines financial leadership with a passion for process improvement and team development. He excels at translating complex financial data into clear insights that support strategic decision-making and drive sustainable success.

Sarah Harwood
Community Transport Manager
Sarah joined Holdsworth in 2006, after previously working in the legal sector. With over 18 years experience with the Holdsworth community, Sarah has worked across diversional therapy, group activities, events, administration and more recently community transport. Sarah is dedicated to participant care, social connections and excellence in service provision, with a goal to create opportunities for older people and those living with a disability to lead independent lives.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Health Science, Bus Operator Accreditation Scheme and Certificate of Transport Management.

Ali has a diverse background in healthcare, aviation, childhood education and family services. For the past 12 years, Ali has been deeply involved in community based playgroup programs helping to create and support inclusive environments for both children and their caregivers.
