Welcome back to our Woollahra Playgroups for term two!
Our Holdsworth Street and Rose Bay Cottage playgroups are returning for Term 2, packed with exciting themes and activities for children from newborns to five years old!
We’ll have new themes and activities designed to engage curious minds and energetic bodies. Whether you’re returning or thinking about joining us for the first time, term 2 promises enjoyable experiences for children, parents and caregivers.
Holdsworth Street Playgroup – Open every weekday during the school term
At Holdsworth Playgroup, we welcome families rain, hail or shine from Monday to Friday. Each week features a special theme to spark imagination and learning:
- Week 1 (29 April – 2 May): Autumn π – Explore seasonal changes through nature-inspired activities
- Week 2 (5-9 May): Mother’s Day π – Join our special morning tea, card-making and enjoy Jess’s puppet show on Thursday
- Week 3 (12-16 May): My Family πͺ – Celebrating National Families Week with family-themed crafts
- Week 4 (19-23 May): Dinosaurs & fossils π΅οΈ – Stories, singing and crafts with Debs, plus recognition of National Volunteer Week
- Week 5 (26-30 May): Teatime π΅ – Sensory play and social skills development
- Week 6 (2-6 June): The ocean & sea animals π³ – Marine adventures with special World Environment Day activities
- Week 7 (10-13 June): Celebrating birthdays π – Birthday fun and Infant Mental Health Awareness resources
- Week 8 (16-20 June): Outer space π – Cosmic exploration for little astronauts
- Week 9 (23-27 June): Snow & Ice βοΈ – Cool sensory experiences
- Week 10 (30 June – 4 July): Arctic animals π – Discover creatures from the coldest regions
Rose Bay Cottage Playgroup – Every Wednesday during the school term
Our Rose Bay Cottage Playgroup opens every Wednesday with its own unique weekly themes:
- Week 1 (30 April): Dress-up day – Come in your favourite costume or try ours
- Week 2 (7 May): Mother’s Day π – Create special handprint cards
- Week 3 (14 May): Musical instruments π· – Play and sing your favourite nursery rhymes
- Week 4 (21 May): Lego building 𧱠– Create cubby houses, towers and more
- Week 5 (28 May): Train track fun π – Build tracks and towns together
- Week 6 (4 June): Parachute play πͺ – Active movement games
- Week 7 (11 June): Bug exploration π – Nature discovery and caterpillar crafts
- Week 8 (18 June): Scavenger hunt π΅οΈ – Exploring nature around Rose Bay Cottage
- Week 9 (25 June): Book swap π – Bring a book to exchange with another family
- Week 10 (2 July): Bubbly fun π¦ – Sensory play with bubbles
Something for every age group
We understand that different age groups have different needs, which is why we offer:
- Playgroup for walkers to five years: Featuring rhyme and story time, messy play, and craft activities
- Dedicated Bub Hub: For newborns to non-walkers, including play and discussion (Holdsworth Street: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
- Siblings Room: Specially designed for babies under 12 months who have siblings under 5 years old (Holdsworth Street: Monday & Tuesday)
Easy to join – no bookings required
One of the best things about our playgroups is how easy they are to attend! Simply pop by and pay on the day. All sessions run from 9am to 12pm, giving you plenty of time to play, create and connect.
The welcoming environment at both Holdsworth Street and Rose Bay Cottage provides the perfect opportunity for children to develop social skills, explore their creativity, and build confidence through play-based learning, while parents and caregivers connect with others in the community.
