- A place where community...
For 85 years, Holdsworth has welcomed families, children and neighbours through its doors at 64 Holdsworth Street. It’s a place where toddlers take their first steps, where families celebrate birthdays and where community groups gather for yoga, craft sessions and connection.
Last month, Holdsworth presented its Annual Report for 2024-2025, revealing the impact of this local community. Over 5,860 families participated in playgroup. There were 717 hours of structured play and learning, more than 300 community group sessions, and countless moments of connection that happened in these indoor spaces.
Now, Holdsworth is launching its End of Year Appeal to make over the indoor spaces and create even more opportunities for families and community members to connect, play and grow together.
The indoor spaces at Holdsworth Street host something different every day. Monday morning might see families gathering at Playgroup and Bub Hub. Tuesday afternoon could bring a yoga class. Wednesday evening might mean a local choir singing around the piano. Saturday evening might mean a birthday party in full swing. These rooms work hard to serve the local community, and this upgrade will help them do even more.
Donations to the appeal will transform these spaces into places where every activity feels welcomed and supported. Fresh furnishings will create comfortable environments for energetic toddlers, calm wellness classes and community parties. Flexible features will allow rooms to adapt throughout the day – from morning playgroup to afternoon yoga to evening birthday celebrations. Improvements will make the spaces more accessible and family-friendly, ensuring everyone can participate fully in community life.
Imagine walking into a room that feels bright and inviting, whether bringing a child to playgroup or attending a weekly community class. Picture celebrating a birthday in a space that feels special and well-cared-for. Think about community groups gathering in rooms designed to bring people together. These upgrades will make these everyday moments feel better for everyone who walks through the doors.
The appeal represents an investment in a community asset that serves over 6,000 people each year. Every dollar donated goes directly toward creating spaces where families feel supported, where children can play and learn, where neighbours can connect and where community truly means something.
With upgraded indoor spaces, Holdsworth can continue to respond to what the local area needs. More community groups can find a home. More people can celebrate milestones in spaces that feel welcoming and inclusive.
As the year draws to a close, Holdsworth is appealing to local residents and supporters to consider contributing to this project. All donations are tax-deductible, and every contribution – whether $10, $50 or more – helps create indoor spaces that will serve the community for years to come.
The connection that happens inside Holdsworth Street matters. With community support, these spaces can continue to bring people together for another 85 years.
