An update on Holdsworth HomeShare

After five years, Holdsworth has made the difficult decision to cease Holdsworth HomeShare from 1 October 2023.

As a not-for-profit, Holdsworth is reliant on government support and grant funding to sustain specific programs and grow them to a financially viable solution. Unfortunately, due to limited funding, Holdsworth was unable to grow Homeshare to be a financially sustainable and viable solution.

Since 2019, HomeShare offered incredible benefits to 54 people. These matches saw improvements in quality of life, peace of mind and support for families and carers, and an affordable housing solution. During this time, Holdsworth was grateful for the support from grant funders and philanthropists who believed in it as a service offering in their community. Holdsworth would like to thank grant funders including NSW Department of Communities and Justice, Perpetual and Waverley Council.

“At Holdsworth, we are committed to meeting the unique needs of our community, and just over five years ago we started Holdsworth HomeShare as an endeavor to support older people who were socially isolated or in need of support to remain at home, as well as younger people who were seeking affordable accommodation,” Holdsworth CEO, Jason Malone said.

“We are proud of the achievements we achieved and thank everyone who supported us throughout its journey.”

Between now and 1 October 2023, Holdsworth will work with current matches to support them in ways that suit their unique circumstances. HomeShare Australia and New Zealand (HANZA) will support those who wish to continue the arrangement.

“Holdsworth exists to uphold people’s right to live and participate fully in their community and to be valued for the unique contribution they make. Through our Home Care Package program and Commonwealth Home Support Program services we are continuing to meet these needs,” Jason said.
