Holdsworth HomeShare matches older people who are living alone in a comfortable home with a younger person who is happy to provide companionship in return for affordable accommodation. This service is managed by a HomeShare Coordinator who is responsible for setting up the match and overseeing the relationship from start to finish.

No. The Sharer is like a room-mate and will only provide light support, such as companionship or shopping. The support is agreed upon by both parties. If the older person needs support such as personal care or nursing care Holdsworth Community can help them get access to government funded services through My Aged Care

HomeShare is run and facilitated by Holdsworth Community. The HomeShare Coordinator is responsible for ensuring proper screening and safety of the match. They also assist the Owner and Sharer to put together a legal contract so both parties understand the expectations and know what to do if anything goes wrong. The Coordinator facilitates the stability of the arrangement by matching people with shared values and providing ongoing support for both the Owner and Sharer. Fees are paid to Holdsworth to make a match that is based on shared values, to provide ongoing support and to ensure the safety of the match.

If you are interested in participating in HomeShare as an Owner you need to contact our Holdsworth HomeShare Coordinator on carolyn.lancaster@holdsworth.org.au or 9302 3600. Carolyn will then take you through an application process and screening to make sure that you would benefit from HomeShare. You need to have enough space to comfortably accommodate someone in your home. In exchange for providing accommodation, the Sharer would provide you with companionship and be able to undertake some light chores.

If you are interested in participating in HomeShare as an Owner you need to contact our Holdsworth HomeShare Coordinator on carolyn.lancaster@holdsworth.org.au or 9302 3600. Sharers are required to go through a screening and application process, which includes a police check. The Sharer would need to offer companionship and light support, such as shopping, up to ten hours a week, based on a mutual agreement with the Owner. In exchange, the Sharer would receive accommodation and companionship in a comfortable home close to amenties.
