Contributing to the development of a healthy, vibrant and supportive community through positive participation is a rewarding experience and one that gives something to both the individual and the community. The work of Holdsworth Community depends on, and is enriched by, people who wish to support their community by volunteering their time, experience and commitment.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

Volunteering has many benefits. It is an ideal way of getting to know your local community members, helping others, using existing skills or learning new ones. We highly value the contribution of our volunteers and provide our volunteers with job descriptions, training, support, reimbursement for program expenses and work references.

What volunteer positions are available at Holdsworth?

Volunteers work in all program areas in varied roles and capacities. Available vacancies change over time. We are always looking at new ways to involve volunteers in our organisation. From time to time we will list more specific roles on this page otherwise we are constantly looking for volunteers to support our programs including Playgroup, Seniors Outings, Home Visiting, Seniors Movie Matinee, Seniors Music Appreciation Groups, Discussion Groups, Memory Loss Outings, Shopping Bus, Assisted Shopping, Community Transport, Volunteer Driving, Activity Presenters, Adult & Children Disability Recreational Activities and we welcome volunteers interested in joining the Holdsworth Board.

People of Holdsworth

Meet some of our wonderful volunteers…

Meet Erin

Meet Lee

I have volunteered at Holdsworth for about two years. I also volunteer at Bondi Junction Neighbourhood Centre. I volunteer on music and movies on Wednesday’s. It’s a lot of fun, I enjoy doing that. I was recommended by Junction Neighbourhood Centre to come to Holdsworth, and it was love at first sight. I like helping people. I get to see regulars every week; most of them are still here from when I first started. It’s great to see them every week.

Meet Sally

I would always see the vans around the area and then when I stopped work and I thought I would like to do something so Holdsworth was my first call. At first I thought I’d like to volunteer with children but then Georgie suggested that I get involved with the seniors and I’ve grown really fond of them. They always have such interesting stories to share.
