Zumba is now part of Woollahra Life!, bringing all the energy, music, and joy you need to start your Fridays right. As part of our community program, facilitated by Holdsworth and proudly supported by Woollahra Council, we’re excited to add this dynamic dance-fitness class to our wellness offerings.

What is Zumba?

Zumba is a dance-fitness program that fuses Latin and international music with dynamic, easy-to-follow choreography. Created in the mid-nineties by a Colombian dancer, it has now grown into a global phenomenon practised in over 180 countries.

The beauty of Zumba lies in its simplicity. You don’t need dance experience or perfect rhythm. The moves are designed to be intuitive, letting your body naturally respond to the music.

Why Zumba works

Traditional workouts can feel repetitive. Zumba changes that by making movement feel like celebration. When you’re focused to the music and the energy around you, it’s so easy to forget that you’re even exercising.

Each class features different rhythms and styles. You might move to salsa one moment and flamenco the next. This variety keeps your body challenged and your mind engaged.

What to expect in class

Classes run for 60 minutes and include:

  • A warm-up to prepare your body
  • Dance sequences that gradually build energy
  • A mix of fast and slow rhythms
  • A cool-down to bring your heart rate down gently

The Woollahra Life! instructor demonstrates moves at the front. There’s no pressure to get every step perfect. The goal is to move, enjoy and connect with others.

Who can join?

Zumba welcomes everyone. Whether you’re a natural mover or just there for the fun, you’ll find your place in the class. The program suits different fitness levels. If a move feels too challenging, you can adjust the intensity. If you want more of a workout, you can add more energy to your movements.
