Expressing creativity and finding calm: Our Paint, Sip & Brunch Event for Seniors
Our recent Paint, Sip & Brunch event for seniors brought together a group of enthusiastic participants for a morning of creativity, relaxation, and socialisation. The event was designed to provide a unique and enjoyable experience for seniors in the Woollahra Festival of Fun, and judging by our feedback, it hit the mark.
The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, with participants fully immersed in their creative processes. Guided by the talented instructor Lainie Cann, they worked on creating beautiful pieces of art while assistants provided support and encouragement.
Everyone felt proud and happy finishing their artwork, with many surprised at how much they enjoyed the experience. We uncovered some genuine artists in our community, and hopefully inspired others to take up a new hobby!
The benefits of art for seniors are well-documented. Research has shown that engaging in art can reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood and overall sense of well-being, and even enhance cognitive function. For seniors, art can provide a sense of purpose and fulfilment, as well as opportunities for socialisation and community engagement. The success of the Paint, Sip & Brunch event highlights the importance of providing opportunities for seniors to engage in creative activities.
