Holdsworth’s February Men's Chat Group: Timeless Ageing
On 13 February, we hosted our monthly Men’s Chat Group at the Woollahra Library. The session featured an inspiring and informative presentation by published author, mental health counsellor, and personal trainer Timo Topp. The session kicked off with a series of interactive exercises, engaging our group, and highlighting the importance of physical activity. Timo’s exercises were designed to be accessible to all participants, emphasising the benefits of regular movement for everyday activities.
Highlights of Timo’s Presentation
- The importance of regular exercise: Regular exercise is a key factor in reducing the risk of top causes of mortality, including cardiovascular diseases, certain cancers, Alzheimer’s, and mental health issues.
- Balance as a crucial component: Maintaining good balance can prevent falls and injuries, enhancing the overall quality of life.
- Lift weights for multiple benefits: Incorporating weightlifting into daily routines helps build muscle strength and improves overall fitness. Timo recommended this practice, citing research that shows weightlifting can rejuvenate skin, prevent osteoporosis, improve mental health, slow cognitive decline, and much more.
